Green City Market
Every Saturday morning for five years I've shopped at Green City Market in Lincoln Park. It's one of the few rituals that I have but it's undeniably my favorite (it also makes me feel like I'm in a high-gloss Nancy Meyers movie). The market runs all year long but moves outside in early May and carries through the end of October, providing sustainably grown produce, meat and dairy, as well as local bakers, juicers, tasty crepe makers, charcuterie, jams and jellies, amazing florists... basically everything but the carrara marble farmhouse sink. There are so many things to love about the market – the community, the passion of the producers, the incredible variety of what's available – but I love watching the colors on display change as crisp spring turns to summer, and summer turns to hazy fall. After a long gray winter it is exactly what the soul needs.
